Position Description
POSITION Duke Innovation & Entrepreneurship (Duke I&E) invites applications for Adjunct Instructor position (non-regular rank) to teach the Social Innovation course as part of the Duke Innovation & Entrepreneurship (Duke I&E) certificate program. The course introduces students to the field of social innovation and examines how entrepreneurial approaches can be applied to address complex social and environmental challenges. Students gain an understanding of key concepts, frameworks, and strategies for creating sustainable social impact while exploring how innovation drives change across nonprofit, public, and private sector organizations. The course also examines the characteristics of successful social innovators, the processes that foster innovation, and the opportunities and limitations of social innovation through real-world examples and critical perspectives. Preparing students to evaluate, develop, and lead innovative solutions that create meaningful and lasting social impact. REQUIREMENTS The successful candidate will have substantial practical experience in social innovation with demonstrated experience as an entrepreneur, including successfully founding and scaling a social impact venture. Candidates must also have experience as a board member for non-profits/social enterprises. An advanced degree such as an MBA or equivalent, is required. The candidate must demonstrate a strong record of excellence in classroom instruction in innovation and entrepreneurship. The successful candidate will also bring enthusiasm for working in a highly entrepreneurial academic environment and a commitment to advancing Duke Innovation & Entrepreneurship's mission through teaching, mentorship, and engagement with students, faculty, and the broader entrepreneurial ecosystem. RESPONSIBILITES Instruct one section of the Social Innovation course, which is part of the Duke I&E Undergraduate Certificate. The course meets in person, once per week for the Spring 2027.
