Position Description

The Department of Pharmacology, Physiology & Biophysics at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine is seeking to recruit a new research-track faculty member at the Research Assistant Professor level, with a salary range of $82,000–$87,000. We seek an accomplished research scientist with expertise in cellular and molecular neuroscience, behavioral pharmacology, and disease-relevant models of brain plasticity. Candidates with experience in metabolic-epigenetic regulation of brain function, chromatin biology, molecular and cellular biology, quantitative imaging, biochemistry, and mechanistic studies linking cellular function to behavior are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate should have a strong record of rigorous experimental research, peer-reviewed publications, collaborative science, and mentorship. Experience with rodent behavioral models, brain-region- or cell-type-specific molecular analyses, and molecular approaches to transcriptional or epigenetic regulation is highly desirable. Boston University offers an outstanding environment for interdisciplinary research, including strong departmental expertise in pharmacology, physiology, biophysics, neuroscience, metabolism, cancer biology, structural and cellular biology, and translational medicine. The successful candidate will have opportunities to collaborate broadly across the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, the Genome Science Institute, the Center for Systems Neuroscience, disease-focused research centers, and university-wide core facilities supporting advanced imaging, molecular biology, genomics, proteomics, and computational analysis. We are an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, natural or protective hairstyle, religion, sex, age, national origin, physical or mental disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, military service, pregnancy or pregnancy related condition, or because of marital, parental, or veteran status.
