Description
The Institute for Quantum & Information Sciences at Syracuse University (SU), Syracuse, NY, is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to collaborate on research focused on theoretical quantum information science and its applications. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. While all qualified candidates will be considered, we particularly invite candidates interested in one or more of the following areas: -Quantum error correction beyond stabilizer codes, especially algebraic and/or holographic error correction -Novel approaches to synthesizing quantum unitaries: gate set optimization, synthesis via Hamiltonians, computation using the environment as a resource -Structure of magic and entropy in quantum circuits/algorithms: quantum entropy cone/inequalities, magic monotones, graph states -Thermalization and decoherence in quantum computational systems: non-Markovian evolution, eigenstate thermalization, computation with many-body systems, random matrix theory -Group and representation theory for analysis of quantum circuits Successful candidates will join Dr. Jason Pollack’s research group in the Syracuse Institute for Quantum & Information Sciences and the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science; they will be welcome to advise students and collaborate with other members of the Institute and Department. This postdoctoral position is for up to three years starting in Fall 2027. A shortlist of candidates will be interviewed via Zoom in January 2027. In accordance with the disciplinary accords for postdocs in various quantum-adjacent fields, no offer made to a candidate will require acceptance before February 15, 2027.Application Materials Required:
