Postdoctoral Associate – Biostatistics
Duke University is seeking a successful postdoctoral associate in the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics (www.biostat.duke.edu). Duke University is regularly ranked among the top research institutions in the US and worldwide. It is located in Durham, North Carolina.
Position Description: A position is available to develop innovative statistical methods in clinical trial design, variable selection methods in high dimensional data that will predict clinical outcomes (such as overall survival), missing data and meta analyses. The successful candidate will collaborate with investigators within and outside Duke University. The objectives of these projects are: to identify and validate surrogate endpoints of overall survival using data from cancer clinical trials in patients with cancer; to identify and validate predictive biomarkers of clinical outcomes in cancer; and perform meta- analyses using the Bayesian framework. These projects will lead to both collaborative and methodological publications in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals.
Qualifications: Candidate must have the following: a doctoral degree in statistics or biostatistics; solid training in statistical methods; and experience in analyzing clinical trials data. The applicant must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written), strong programming skills in R with proficiency in UNIX/Linux system. For the meta-analysis project, Bayesian background with experience in hierarchical modelling and mixed effect models is preferred. Knowledge in survival analysis, machine learning, and bioinformatics in omics data is desired.
