Postdoctoral Researcher or Associate in Research– Energy-Economy System Modeling Duke’s Nicholas School of Environment in Durham, North Carolina, is seeking Postdoctoral Researcher or an Associate in Research with experience in quantitative modeling of the energy-economy-land system. The position will be supervised by Dr. Drew Shindell (https://nicholas.duke.edu/people/faculty/shindell). The researcher will advance efforts to compare a broad spectrum of environmental and economic impacts of different options for providing services within the power and transportation sectors. Analyses will cover, for example, comparison between renewables+storage and fossil fuels and EVs versus ICEs (internal combustion engines) in the US, and the project will include both technical and behavioral options as well as regulatory or financial policies that can affect policy choices.

The candidate must have at least a Masters degree in a related field, be fluent in computer programming, preferably python, and will ideally have experience in working with an integrated assessment model, preferable the open-source DoE Global Change Assessment Model (GCAM). The candidate should be capable of working both independently and collaboratively and have a good command of English. Potential collaboration with US EPA researchers in nearby Research Triangle Park.

Time Frame Initial appointment will be for 1 year, with possibility to extend to 2 or 3 years. Position is available starting June 1st, with priority consideration for applications submitted by May 1st. Application Process
