Position Description

Associate in Research

Grill Lab

Duke University

We are seeking a highly motivated biomedical engineer to develop computational models to quantify the effects of intracortical stimulation (ICMS) delivered via novel ultra-microelectrode arrays (UMEA). ICMS is currently used to map brain circuits and restore somatosensation such as touch and proprioception in persons with spinal cord injury. However, despite this widespread use, the neural mechanisms remain largely unknown. The candidate will develop and integrate computational models across software platforms to test the performance of novel UMEA. The candidate will implement, simulate, and analyze models of ICMS and prepare summaries of the results. The candidate will attend team meetings to present data/results to sponsors. These meetings provide opportunities to interact with a team of interdisciplinary engineers and scientists.

Candidates must have a Master’s degree with strong coding skills, and experience with COMSOL, NEURON, MATLAB, and / or PYTHON is strongly preferred.

For consideration, please submit a cover letter, CV with GPA, and the names and contact information of three professional references.
