Position Description
The Department of Chemistry invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biochemistry, broadly defined. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, or closely related field, and a minimum of one year of post-doctoral experience is required by the date of employment. The start date for the position is July 1, 2025.
The individuals hired are expected to develop a vibrant research program as evidenced by:
A highly impactful scholarly output
Sustainable external funding
Leadership in their field
Effective mentorship of Ph.D. students
There are opportunities to develop collaborations within the Department and across the university in a variety of fields. Members of the Department are expected to demonstrate excellence in both teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students across a wide range of disciplines. Individuals hired will be expected to display a strong commitment to teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels and to include undergraduates in their research program. Faculty in the Department assist in the administrative and governance functions of the department, the university, and the profession via service on committees as appropriate.
