The Coded Aperture Miniature Mass Spectrometer program (https://camms.pratt.duke.edu) within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Duke University is looking to hire a postdoctoral associate. Our work involves combining computational and compressive sensing techniques to develop unique mass spectrometry instrumentation. Our work has been the basis of numerous manuscripts in leading journals and featured in the Annual Review of Analytical Chemistry (https://www.annualreviews.org/doi/abs/10.1146/annurev-anchem-061516-045256) and Chemical and Engineering News (https://cen.acs.org/analytical-chemistry/mass-spectrometry/Shrinking-magnetic-sectors/96/i22). The position will involve designing, simulating, building, and testing cycloidal mass spectrometers, including the subcomponents therein, for several different applications.

The candidate would have a PhD in physics, chemistry, or engineering. In addition, the candidate should be passionate about building and testing prototypes and have demonstrated oral and published written communication skills (in English). Experience in one or more of the following skills is highly desirable: • Charged particle simulation in OPERA FEA, COMSOL, and/or Simion • Programming experience in python and/or matlab • Circuit board layout • Integration and operation of complex instruments
