Applications are invited for a three-year postdoctoral research position in theoretical physics at the Kavli IPMU, the University of Tokyo. The postdoctoral scholar will primarily work together with Prof. Masahito Yamazaki at the Kavli IPMU, and is expected to work on one or more of the following research areas: high energy theory, string theory, mathematical physics, condensed matter theory, and quantum computation. We welcome applications from researchers in diverse research areas. The position is for three years, and the postdoctoral scholar will be provided with salary comparable to those at other prestigious institutions. The scholar will receive generous travel support and is encouraged to travel internationally, visit other institutions, and attend conferences, up to 3 months every year. Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe (Kavli IPMU), The University of Tokyo Institutes for Advanced Study, has the ambitious goal to discover the fundamental laws of nature and to understand the universe from the synergistic perspectives of mathematics, theoretical and experimental physics, astronomy, and statistics. It is an international research institute with English as its official language, established in October 2007. More than a half of its full-time scientific members come from outside Japan.
