Work Performed
The Associate in Research will work with the Senior Research Associate-Communications Strategist with education-related research and in the development and implementation of marketing and dissemination materials to support major initiatives and projects for the Samuel DuBois Cook Center on Social Equity at Duke University. Specific duties include but are not limited to the conceptualization and design of websites and content to populate the website. The Associate in Research will also oversee the Cook Center’s social media platforms. The Associate in Research will also support the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Collaborations development, planning and coordination of all Cook Center special events. The position will also assist with the Hank and Billye Suber Aaron Young Scholars Summer Research Institute.
This position will also be the point person for Duke University Events Calendar, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr, and Facebook and Instagram accounts. This position will also assist with special events, conferences and workshops related to the Cook Center’s research and education agenda. Assist and serve as TA for Cook Center classes.
Perform other related duties incidental to work described herein.
Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training
Bachelor’s degree in media studies and African and African American Studies or closely related field
Experience
One year of experience in marketing, social media and related activities.
Skills
Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office, Wordpress and other related programs
