Position Description
The Department of Computer Information Systems (CIS) in the Robinson College of Business (http://cis.robinson.gsu.edu/) at Georgia State University invites applications and nominations for one or more tenure track faculty positions, effective Fall 2024. The position is open to candidates with an established publication record, who can be hired at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. Candidates at the Associate Professor level may be considered for tenure on appointment. The CIS Department is consistently ranked as a top department both in terms of its programs and research The department’s undergraduate program was recently ranked # 8 and its graduate program was ranked # 11 in the nation by US News & World Report. The department is a leader in research on creating value for business and achieving societal impact through digital innovation and digital transformation. Illustrative current projects of faculty pertain to human-AI augmentation; large-language models for inclusive prosperity and equitable student success; content moderation in online communities; policies and governance of digital platforms and the digital economy; and open-source cybersecurity. The department consistently ranks among the best in the world in terms of research productivity based on publications in MIS Quarterly and Information Systems Research. The department faculty recently received multi-million-dollar grants from the Department of Defense and National Science Foundation. Applicants must have technical, managerial, and methodological expertise in information systems to investigate high-impact business and societal problems and the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams. They must have an established research program and record of scholarship with strong momentum toward publications in premier scholarly journals in information systems as well as in widely regarded premier journals of other business and related disciplines. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in a information systems or related discipline from a nationally accredited university or international equivalent. Ideal candidates will possess strong understanding of information technologies and how they can be effectively developed and deployed in different application domains. In addition, they will have expertise in theory development and cutting-edge methodologies. They will also have complementary skills to current faculty so as to contribute to the research environment, enhance the quality of the Ph.D. program, and add to the teaching capabilities at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
