Position Description

The Kavli IPMU invites applications for a postdoctoral position in experimental physics, specializing in radiation imaging. This project focuses on developing a 3D imaging system utilizing Silicon or Cadmium Telluride (CdTe) sensors, including strip and pixel types. The system is designed for near-field imaging applications to advance medical imaging technologies for pre-clinical experiments. Furthermore, the project seeks to explore and prototype X-ray or gamma-ray detectors for future space observations, evaluating their functionality and potential applications. We seek individuals who conduct experimental research in collaboration with Tadayuki Takahashi, Shin’ichiro Takeda, and other researchers at Kavli IPMU.
The appointment is for two years, starting after April 2024 as soon as the decision is made.

Roles in the project include characterizing sensor signals, developing algorithms for image reconstruction, and optimizing a collimator to enhance imaging performance, which will involve comprehensive simulation studies and empirical measurements.
The ideal candidate must possess a Ph.D. in physics or a related field. The candidate is expected to have expertise in detector response and detection efficiency analysis, complemented by experience in imaging modeling, FPGA firmware development, and DAQ system management.

We encourage all candidates to apply by March 11, 2024.
Applicants should submit curriculum vitae (with email address and citizenship), a statement of research interests, and a list of publications. Applicants should also ensure that at least three letters of reference are submitted on their behalf.
They should be uploaded at Application Form.
