Associate in Research for User Interface Development for Ophthalmic Imaging Systems

Job Summary
The Biophotonics Group at Duke University is looking for an Associate in Research to develop a user interface for clinical imaging systems developed in our lab. This software will be used by physicians to collect high-resolution optical coherence tomography (OCT) images from patients. This software will include control of the image acquisition pipeline via Vortex (a custom data acquisition, processing, and analysis software developed in our lab), visualization of 3D data, and simultaneous control of multiple hardware components in next-generation optical ophthalmic imaging instruments. This position requires programming skills and dedication to constructive interactions with scientific staff (graduate students, postdocs) and physician collaborators. Core Responsibilities
• Develop user interface for clinical use of high-performance OCT acquisition software
• Collaborate with our team of scientific staff (graduate students, post docs, and research
scientists) to design software and algorithms for clinical and research applications
• Manage user feedback and documentation
• Provide support for developed applications
Education and Experience
Required
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, biomedical/electrical engineering, or similar
• Experience in UI/UX design
• Experience with Python
• Independent project management skills
• Experience with version control (Git)
• Experience in software performance analysis and optimization
Preferred
• Experience with C++, CUDA, Qt (or other UI frameworks)
• Experience with interfacing with external hardware (e.g. ADC/DAC cards, high speed
cameras, robot controllers).
• Familiarity with common signal/image processing algorithms (interpolation, filtering,
FFT, etc.)
