JOB DESCRIPTION

The COOL Lab at Duke seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our group’s Arctic hydrology research focus. Specifically, this position will involve conducting research investigating drivers of long-term lake area change in the Arctic using satellite data. This work will be conducted under the guidance of Dr. Sarah Cooley in preparation for a full time academic or research career. Postdoctoral researchers are expected to publish their research, regularly present at conferences, and engage in outreach and service to their discipline as appropriate based on experience. They will also contribute to mentoring of junior lab members and actively participate in lab meetings and events. The successful applicant will join a thriving earth and environmental science research community at the Nicholas School of the Environment.

TERM This position will have a term length of one year (1/1/25 – 12/31/25), with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding.

QUALIFICATIONS Applicants should hold a PhD in Earth Science, Environmental Science, or a related field (e.g. Biology, Ecology).

PROJECTED START DATE The position is projected to start January 1, 2025.

WORK LOCATION Work takes place at Duke University in Durham, NC. Remote work in Duke approved states is allowed with the approval of the supervisor.
