Position Description

Description: The Department of Computer Science at Brandeis University invites applications for a full-time teaching position. The faculty rank is open and will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications. This is an outside-the-tenure structure (OTS) position, beginning in Fall 2025. We are looking for exceptional candidates to teach a variety of core computer science courses, as well as upper-level and graduate electives within their areas of expertise. We are particularly interested in individuals with an interest in teaching electives in all areas of Data Science, including big data analytics, statistical modeling, data engineering, and data ethics. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in undergraduate education and actively engage in the department’s academic community. Responsibilities include advising, participating in faculty meetings, supporting undergraduate and graduate research, and contributing to the department's teaching and research mission at Brandeis.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Computer Science, or Data Science (all-but-dissertation candidates will be considered if they are near completion). The ideal candidate should have prior teaching experience, particularly with undergraduate students, and an engaging approach to instruction. A strong commitment to teaching and mentoring is essential.

About The Department: The Department consists of a diverse group of 18 full-time faculty members and researchers and offers programs leading to B.A./B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science. The Department has research strengths in data systems, distributed systems, machine learning, computational linguistics, computer vision, and software design and implementation. In addition, members of the Department collaborate closely with faculty across the university, including biology, neuroscience, economics, physics, and political science, among others.
