Position Description
LEHIGH UNIVERSITY. The Department of Psychology invites applications for a non-tenure-track and non-tenured Teaching Assistant Professor position in psychology, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025. This is a renewable, fixed-term, non-tenure-track, full-time position. The initial term of appointment is 3 years.
Candidates must have an earned Ph.D. in
Psychology or a directly related field by the date of employment. Candidates
must also have at least 1 semester of experience teaching the science of
psychology as instructor-of-record in a college or university setting.
The individual hired will be expected to teach 3 courses
per semester at the undergraduate level, including Introduction to Psychology,
Research Methods and Data Analysis, and courses within their area of expertise.
They will advance the teaching mission of the department by contributing to the
development of the undergraduate psychology curriculum and promoting the use of
innovative and effective evidence-based teaching methods. The successful
candidate will be expected to help promote the success of students from groups
that have been traditionally underrepresented or marginalized in higher
education. They will also serve as an undergraduate academic advisor and
contribute to relevant departmental, college, and/or university committees.
While the position is not
tenurable, Teaching Assistant Professors who develop excellent records in the
areas of teaching and service may be considered for promotion to the rank of
Teaching Associate Professor, and ultimately to the rank of Teaching Full Professor.
The Psychology Department is seeking candidates with an interest in
establishing a long-term teaching career in our department.
The Department
of Psychology at Lehigh University aspires to cultivate a community
of learners dedicated to the common goal of using scientific methods to
understand human thought, emotion, and behavior. Our undergraduate program
includes rigorous academic training paired with rich opportunities for hands-on
experience doing psychological research. We also have a small
research-intensive graduate program where students and faculty work
collaboratively within and across three areas: cognitive, developmental, and
social psychology.
