Position Description

The Dean’s Office at the Graduate School of Business, Stanford University, is seeking qualified applicants for a part time, academic staff – teaching (Lecturer) position, starting September 1, 2025. The successful candidate will be expected to teach two sections of an advanced Accounting class in our MBA Program. In recent years, the course has been titled “Global Financial Reporting” and the goal of the course was to enhance students' understanding of current financial reporting issues through a detailed analysis and comparison of U.S. GAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards. We would consider other advanced accounting topics that complement our existing curriculum. The course is aimed at entering MBA students who have extensive accounting knowledge through prior education and professional experience. This position will be for one academic quarter (ten weeks of classes and a week for exams/projects).

This position is not benefits-eligible. PhD in Accounting or related discipline preferred but we also value extensive related professional experience. We expect the successful candidate to have significant successful teaching experience with the subject matter in a graduate school environment.

Candidates should submit their applications via email to gsblecturersearch@stanford.edu and attach their CV, cover letter and other materials as noted below. Applications will be accepted until July 15, 2025. For an application to be considered complete and to be reviewed, the applicant must submit 1) a CV; 2) a cover letter with a detailed narrative of how they plan on teaching the course (no more than 3 pages), along with 3) a syllabus including the literature which they will use as the academic basis for the course. If you have teaching evaluations available, please include those with your application. We also ask for the names of three references who can speak to the applicants’ qualifications for this position. References will not be contacted until the interview stage of the process.

Any questions regarding the application process should be sent by email to gsblecturersearch@stanford.edu

The expected base pay range for this position is: Lecturer: $180,000 - $200,000 (this range is for 100% FTE; the final compensation will be prorated based on the %FTE of the position)

Stanford University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including years since terminal degree, training, and field or discipline; departmental budget availability; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.

Consistent with its obligations under the law, the University will provide reasonable accommodation to any employee with a disability who requires accommodation to perform the essential functions of his or her job. Stanford is an equal employment opportunity and affirmative action employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. Stanford welcomes applications from all who would bring additional dimensions to the University’s research, teaching, and clinical missions.
