The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Victoria, invites applications for a limited term position at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor in the areas of information security, network security, digital forensics, security analysis, and ethical hacking. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2026 for a period of one-year 

 

The candidate's qualifications, experience and overall market demand will determine a candidate’s final salary offer. The salary for this position includes a competitive salary range of $75,000 - $83,000. UVic is committed to offering an equitable and competitive salary, inclusive of a generous benefits package and eligible leaves. 

 

Applicants must have an earned PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a related discipline at the time of appointment. Successful candidates are expected to teach both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Qualifications in teaching will be demonstrated by communications skills, a statement on teaching submitted as part of the application, recommendation letters and a sample lecture delivered during the on-site interview.

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering has 27 faculty members with internationally recognized research and teaching programs. Six of our faculty members are IEEE Fellows, three are Fellows of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, and four are fellows of the Engineering Institute of Canada.  This position is to support the Master of Engineering in Telecommunications and Information Security (MTIS) program.  More information on this program can be found at https://www.uvic.ca/ecs/ece/current/mtis/index.php.
