Position Description
Occupational Summary The Duke Quantum Center is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to work in theoretical quantum optics to support and advance quantum science research. The position involves theoretical modeling of quantum optical and many-body systems, numerical computation using advanced integration and simulation methods, GPU-accelerated computations, several programming languages, and presenting results to wide technical and non-technical audiences. Additionally, the candidate will also develop theory and project narratives for grant proposals, progress reports, and peer-reviewed publications. In addition to your research responsibilities, you will actively engage in lab meetings, journal clubs, and departmental seminars, and will have opportunities to mentor undergraduate and graduate students, support new lab members, and collaborate with colleagues across the Duke research community. Required Qualifications at this Level Education/Training PhD in Physics Experience Substantial work in theoretical quantum optics or many-body physics, at the level of publishing a first-author paper in a well-known physics journal. Skills Good working knowledge of multiple programming languages for numerical computation, broad understanding of quantum theory, good scientific communication abilities.
