Position Description

Occupational Summary

Develop and support projects essential to Dr. Monroe’s research programs within the Duke Quantum Center (DQC), including ion trap quantum computation, photonics, device fabrication, cold molecular ions, quantum system engineering, quantum control, quantum information theory, quantum resource theories, near-term algorithms, and quantum error correction. Candidate will help prepare DQC laboratories for a cryogenic chamber to house SiV:diamond quantum memory at temperature <1K. Candidate will design the optical interface between SiV:diamond and optical fiber, including wavelength conversion from 493 nm (Barium ion) to 737 nm (SiV) and design a room temperature vacuum chamber to interface with output optical fiber and eventually into cryogenic chamber. The working environment is interdisciplinary and collaborative with scientists, engineers, and mathematicians coming together to co-design the next generation of high-performance quantum systems. The candidate will lead graduate students and other postdocs in performing research, which will be published and presented in conferences and journals.
