Appl Deadline:
2024/12/13 09:00AM (posted 2024/10/30, updated 2024/10/25, listed until 2025/04/15)
Position Description:
Applicants should specify the research groups or their leaders that you would like to join in their cover letter (see below):
[Nuclear Theory Group at YITP, Kyoto] (Leader: Yoshimasa Hidaka) focuses on the Hamiltonian formulation of QCD and quantum gravity, with applications in quantum computing and quantum error correction, aiming to advance the understanding of high-density and nonequilibrium QCD as well as the quantum nature of gravity.
[Particle Physics Group at YITP, Kyoto] (Leader: Etsuko Itou) focuses on the implementation and execution of classical and quantum computations for quantum gauge field theory.
Our project is also recruiting for a position at RIKEN iTHEMS. Simultaneous applications are also possible.
If you are interested, please visit https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/29025 (Leader: Masazumi Honda, masazumi.honda@riken.jp)
This research project aims to formulate and implement quantum gauge theory and quantum gravity in a form that is efficiently executable on quantum computers. By integrating high-energy physics and quantum computing, we will also develop novel quantum error correction codes based on the symmetries and topological properties of gauge theories and quantum gravity. This approach will enable the simulation of nonequilibrium dynamics and finite-density systems, which have been challenging with traditional methods, opening new frontiers in the integration of quantum computing and high-energy physics.
Applications should consist of a cover letter, CV, publication list, research statement, and two recommendation letters.
The cover letter should explain (1) the research groups or their leaders (e.g. 1st:[Nuclear Theory Group],2nd:[Particle Physics Group] or 1st:[Hidaka Group],2nd:[Itou Group]) that you want to join with the order of priority, (2) the time when you want to join as a fellow (e.g. Apr. 2025), (3) names and contact information of references.
The deadline for application is Dec. 13, 2024 (9:00 AM JST).
All documents should be written in English or Japanese.
Application Materials Required:
Submit the following items online at this website to complete your application:
- Cover letter
- Curriculum Vitae
- Research statement
- Publication list
- Two reference letters (to be submitted online by the reference writers on this site )
And anything else requested in the position description.
