The Ohio State University Department of Comparative Studies invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in the humanities. The theme of this fellowship is “Global Science and Technology Studies.” We seek an emerging scholar who is engaged in research that contributes to global science and technology studies, specifically postcolonial, decolonial, decolonizing, or indigenous science and technology studies. We are especially interested in applicants whose work is ethnographic and/or interdisciplinary, and that speaks to the interplay among global, postcolonial, decolonizing, and feminist frameworks and theories in science and technology studies. The topical focus and geographic areas are open. This fellowship is part of The Ohio State University’s Humanities and Arts Discovery Theme and is partly funded by The American Council of Learned Societies.

The postdoctoral fellow should contribute to the intellectual life of the Department of Comparative Studies. Comparative Studies is an interdisciplinary, tenure-granting department in the College of Arts and Sciences with 18 core faculty and affiliated faculty in more than 20 departments across the University. The department offers a Ph.D., an M.A., and B.A.s in science studies, religious studies, folklore, comparative literature, world literature, comparative ethnic and American studies, and comparative cultural studies. Further information is available at http://comparativestudies.osu.edu. Applicants who would benefit from being part of the “Space and Sovereignty” Humanities Institute Working Group and those who would increase the diversity of the department and the university are especially encouraged to apply.  More information about the Space and Sovereignty Humanities Institute Working Group is available at

https://huminst.osu.edu/news/space-and-sovereignty-working-group. A PhD in Science and Technology Studies or another relevant field of study in the humanities or humanistic social sciences must be received by August 2016. This is a twelve-month appointment that is renewable for up to two years. In addition to pursing their own research and engaging in intellectual community in the department and university, the fellow will teach one course per semester. The fellow will also connect with undergraduate students in Comparative Studies and Science and Technology Studies.

This fellowship includes a stipend of $50,000, benefits, some relocation costs, computing equipment and support, and a small research fund.
