The Ethier lab at Georgia Tech/Emory Biomedical Engineering seeks a postdoctoral fellow in the area of ocular biomechanics.
The postdoctoral fellow will use the BXD mouse set to identify genes that associate with scleral biomechanical properties, an important risk factor in glaucoma. Specific duties will include making high-resolution measurements of ocular compliance in mouse eyes from different mouse strains; analyzing experimental results; working closely with collaborators at Emory University to carry out bioinformatics analysis of gene loci associations; development of one or more mice with altered gene function to explore the impact on glaucomatous damage; writing papers; and assisting with grant preparation. The start date is as soon as possible, with anticipated duration of 2 years. Applicants should have: a PhD in biomechanics, ocular physiology or ocular genetics; experience with use of mice for scientific studies; and strong quantitative and computer skills. Interest and willingness to participate in an interdisciplinary research team is essential.
To apply for this position, please contact Prof. C. Ross Ethier, firstname.lastname@example.org, via email using the subject: Ocular Biomechanics Post-Doc. Applicants must include, as a single pdf file, a cover letter with a short statement of purpose, a full resume, and names of three references.
