Johns Hopkins University
CENTER FOR LEADERSHIP EDUCATION
The Johns Hopkins University seeks highly qualified candidates for a full-time teaching position in the Center for Leadership Education (CLE). The CLE offers renewable, one-year contracts that, with appropriate review, become eligible for longer-term contracts and promotion to senior lecturer. All positions in the Center are non-tenured, but Johns Hopkins has recently instituted a new teaching professorship career path for which all full-time lecturers in the CLE become eligible.
CLE seeks candidates qualified to teach in the following areas:
Responsibilities include teaching 6 courses per academic year, advising undergraduate and graduate students and participating actively and collegially in program management, curriculum development, and evaluations.
Candidates should have a strong commitment to teaching, an advanced degree, excellent communication, and strong interpersonal skills. Teaching experience—preferably full-time at the undergraduate level or through extensive corporate training—as well as professional experience in a business, consulting or entrepreneurial environment are required. A CPA, CFA or CMA is required, along with an ability to teach courses in the areas of accounting and finance.
For full consideration, applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, teaching philosophy statement, a description of past work experience that is not teaching related, a brief description of courses the candidate might like to develop, copies of recent teaching evaluations, and three letters of recommendation by December 15, 2012.
The CLE is housed in the Whiting School of Engineering and boasts three interrelated academic programs: the W. P. Carey Program in Entrepreneurship and Management, the Professional Communication Program and the Masters of Science in Engineering Management. These academic programs focus on entrepreneurship and management from a multidisciplinary viewpoint and are taught in a collaborative setting that is based on a quantitative foundation. The CLE offers courses in the following areas: accounting and finance, leadership, organizational behavior, operations management, venture development, marketing, law, and professional communication.
The Johns Hopkins University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer committed to recruiting, supporting, and fostering a diverse community of outstanding faculty, staff, and students. All applicants who share this goal are encouraged to apply.
