Description: The Departments of Classics and Near Eastern Languages and Cultures at The Ohio State University invites applications for a two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in the area of the Late Ancient Near East (200-900 AD), to join a large interdepartmental faculty cooperating on research and teaching in this field. This Postdoctoral Fellowship is funded by the American Council of Learned Societies and the Arts and Humanities Discovery Theme at The Ohio State University.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a PhD in Classics, History, Religion, or Near Eastern Languages and Cultures; experience teaching in a university setting; and, preferably, experience in mentoring students in their research projects. The successful candidate will carry out research on the Late Ancient Near East; teach one course per semester for four semesters, the courses to be specified in accordance with the candidate’s area of expertise and departmental needs; and will serve as mentor for a select group of undergraduates in their development of research projects of their own. The successful candidate will deliver one formal presentation of research at the end of each year to the faculty.
