Postdoctoral Research Positions in Condensed Matter Theory at Harvard University

The quantum Condensed Matter Theory groups, led by Professors Eugene Demler, Bertrand Halperin, Mikhail Lukin, Subir Sachdev, and Ashvin Vishwanath expect to appoint one or more postdoctoral fellows beginning in Fall 2017. We are looking for candidates with interests in quantum mechanical condensed matter theory including: strongly correlated electron systems & mesoscopics, ultracold atomic gases, quantum optics, and quantum information.

Applications must be submitted through AcademicJobsOnline at Please click on the tab labeled “Condensed Matter Theory” to complete the online application. Candidates should also arrange for letters of recommendation to be submitted by three scientists familiar with their work. Candidates may also wish to include selected preprints or reprints of articles they have written. All involved faculty members will jointly consider all complete applications.

Applications and supporting materials should arrive by
1 November 2016,
however later applications may also be considered.

Candidates will be automatically considered for the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship, if their application is received by 1 November 2016. These fellowships provide funding for up to three years, and are part of the Moore Foundation’s Emergent Phenomena in Quantum Systems (EPiQS) initiative.

Harvard University is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity employer.

About the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and EPiQS Initiative:

The Moore Foundation believes in bold ideas that create enduring impact in the areas of science, environmental conservation and patient care. Visit or follow @MooreScientific. The foundation’s $90-million EPiQS initiative promotes discovery-driven research in the field of quantum materials ( Through a variety of funding approaches, EPiQS aims to enable a community of outstanding experimentalists, materials synthesis experts and theorists to maximize their potential to explore, discover and understand emergent behavior of complex quantum matter. EPiQS supports theoretical research by focusing on postdoctoral and visiting scholars at several leading institutions in the field. The Moore Postdoctoral Scholars in Theory of Quantum Materials program supports some of the most promising theoretical physicists at an early stage of their careers. The Fellows are provided with a significant independence in selection of their research directions within their departments and can acquire a breadth of expertise by working with multiple faculty members.
