|The Department of Religion at Boston University invites applications for a tenured Associate Professor or Professor to begin July 1, 2017, pending budgetary approval. We seek a senior scholar of religions of the African diaspora (including North American, Caribbean, black church studies, urban and new religious movements, conjure and popular religion) able to teach courses at the introductory and advanced/graduate levels that contribute to an academic religious studies curriculum. The area of specialty is open, including PhDs in the study of religion or from scholars with cognate interests in Anthropology, Ethnic Studies, History, Sociology, or other disciplines. The Department of Religion at BU boasts a dynamic and research-active faculty with scholarly and teaching interests in Islam, early Judaism and Christianity, American religious history, comparative religions, and social theory.
