This researcher will (1) help to catalogue field data and undertake a variety of preliminary analyses at each drill site in the Amazon during active drilling operations, (2) prepare and analyze pollen samples from each drill core and undertake stratigraphic, paleo-environmental, and biodiversity determinations based upon these analyses, (3) work with other scientists on the team to publish scientific articles based upon these results. We seek applicants with a strong background in neotropical palynology, including both Quaternary and pre-Quaternary periods; a familiarity with Cenozoic biostratigraphic zonation schemes for tropical South America; an ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams; and demonstrated ability to publish scientific results in leading journals.

Applicants must hold a PhD in geology, biology, or a related field; with subsequent postdoctoral experience preferred. Applicants must have extensive research experience in pollen taxonomy and biostratigraphy of tropical South America, experience working in harsh field locations, and, at-least, basic Portuguese skills.
