Faculty Associate
(Job #12309) The Department of English on the Tempe Campus at Arizona
State University invites applications for Faculty Associates to teach lower,
upper division, and/or graduate courses, online and/or on-campus in: Creative
Writing; English Education; Film and Media Studies; Linguistics and Applied
Linguistics; Literature; Writing, Rhetorics and Literacies, and/or Writing
Programs. This is a part-time, non-benefits eligible appointment made on a
semester basis as needed. A typical Faculty Associate course load is one to two
classes per semester. Salary is contingent upon qualifications and assigned
teaching load. Subsequent semester renewal is possible contingent upon
satisfactory performance, the needs of the unit, availability of resources, and
sufficient enrollment in assigned courses. Teaching duties include preparing
class materials, responding to and evaluating student work, and being available
for one-on-one assistance (in weekly office hours for on-campus classes and
electronically for online classes). Depending on time of hire, the anticipated
start date will be Summer 2018, Fall 2018, or Spring 2019. Minimum qualifications: Ph.D., MA, or MFA in relevant
field by time of appointment; minimum of two years of post-secondary teaching
experience (to be considered for composition courses, this experience must be
in composition); evidence of effective teaching. Desired qualifications: Record of scholarly

annually. Applicants who are not hired within the current year are welcome to
