|Cornell University’s Department of Performing and Media Arts seeks an assistant professor of cinema and media studies in a tenure-track position beginning on July 1, 2014. We are looking for a dynamic and innovative scholar with a wide range of interests to teach undergraduate students in our new major in Performing and Media Arts, which combines theory and practice in theatre, film, dance, performance, installation, and transmedia in unusual and experimental ways. Courses – which uphold and challenge core training in the discipline of cinema and media studies – would include an introductory course, a two-course sequence in global cinema, and elective courses in the candidate’s range of interests. The teaching load is two courses per semester. The successful candidate will also serve on the committees of graduate students pursuing doctoral degrees in the candidate’s area of specialization. We are interested in recruiting candidates who demonstrate commitment to the highest standards of scholarship, teaching, and professional activity consistent with a Research I university. Our Department is committed to the development of a campus climate that supports equality and diversity.
Interested applicants should submit a letter of application, a curriculum vitae, a dissertation abstract, three letters of recommendation, and a writing sample of approximately 20-25 pages in electronic format. Applications are due by November 1, 2013. Please note that the candidate must have Ph.D. officially awarded no later than July 1, 2014.
