Colgate University’s Film and Media Studies program seeks a scholar well versed in the history and theory of global film as an art form, with a demonstrated interest in contemporary media and media theory. The Program invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning fall semester 2014. Completion of Ph.D. is expected prior to or shortly after the date of hire. Teaching responsibilities will include existing program courses that focus on national and transnational film and media as well as our required Introduction to Film and Media Studies. As importantly, the position offers opportunities to collaborate with faculty and departments across the disciplines to develop courses that explore film and media on a global scale. Ongoing contributions to the program's longstanding tradition of bringing film and video artists as well as scholars of film and media to campus will be integral to the position, as will programming screenings and organizing special events. Outstanding screening facilities support a range of digital and analog formats, including 16mm and 35mm projection. Five course teaching load; all Colgate faculty are expected to participate in all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum.
