Position Description:    

The Department of Physics at the University of Oregon seeks to fill a tenure-related faculty position for a scientist interested in conducting research in observational or experimental astrophysics with an emphasis on gravitational waves. The anticipated starting date is Fall 2017 and the position is expected at the assistant professor level, although a more senior appointment is possible under exceptional circumstances. The successful candidate could benefit from close connections with the existing Oregon group in the LIGO Scientific Collaboration. There are also opportunities for interaction with many other research groups in the department and related research centers and institutes.

Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent in physics or a related discipline and an outstanding research record. The successful candidate is expected to conduct a vigorous research program and be a dedicated and successful teacher at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications. The successful candidate will support and enhance a diverse learning and working environment.
