Assistant Professor of International Studies
The University of Washington Tacoma invites applications for a full time tenure-track Assistant Professor in Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences (IAS) with teaching/research interests in International Studies. The successful candidate will be an intellectually expansive scholar broadly trained in a relevant social science or interdisciplinary field, such as but not limited to international affairs, political science, or geography. She/he will be expected to engage in creative scholarship, develop and teach a range of classes, including American foreign policy, and will possess a regional specialty, preferably in the Middle East, North Africa, or Sub-Saharan Africa. Experience and interest in teaching courses on public policy and/or law in international relations are a plus.
The position primarily contributes to an interdisciplinary major in Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) but also contributes to other interdisciplinary majors, minors, and concentrations at UW Tacoma, such as Global Studies, Human Rights, History, and Ethnic, Gender and Labor Studies.
The position begins September 16, 2013, requires an earned doctorate in a relevant field at the time of appointment, and is contingent on funding. Candidates in the final stages of their dissertation will be appointed on an acting basis.
