The Computer Science Department at Oberlin College invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position in the College of Arts and Sciences. Initial appointment to this position will be for a term of 4 years, beginning Fall of 2015, and will carry the rank of Assistant Professor.
The successful candidate will teach the standard teaching load (currently 4.5 courses per year, which includes labs) at all levels of undergraduate Computer Science and specialize in Machine Learning or a related area.
Among the qualifications required for appointment is the Ph.D. degree (in hand or expected by first semester of academic year 2015-16). Candidates must demonstrate interest and potential excellence in undergraduate teaching, including the supervision of student research. Successful teaching experience at the college level is desirable.
The successful candidate will also be expected to engage in sustained scholarly research and/or other creative work appropriate to the position and participate in the full range of faculty responsibilities, including academic advising and service on committees.
The Computer Science department currently has 5.5 FTE with research interests spanning the areas of algorithmic game theory, computer graphics, distributed systems, modeling, security, and more. Our CS majors are enthusiastic and actively engaged in their education, and many of them go on to earn advanced degrees from leading CS graduate programs.
